They PDFPen Pro properly recognized paragraphs and sentences and the document text flowed appropriately from one line to the next. These exported documents, to my surprise, were mostly usable. Once the text was recognized, I was able to export files as a Word document. The app was able to recognize text in hundreds of pages of documents in a few short moments, making them searchable, editable, and correctable. OCR has always been a bit of a sticky wicket, but PDFPen does the job well and in almost no time. You can go about your business, including editing other PDF files, and PDFPenPro will continue to perform OCR on your files in the background. If you want something that you can buy out and just add updates to and keep for the long run, this is not the product.PDFPenPro 10 includes about ten new features, among which are batch OCR, document watermarking, header and footer editing, better image resizing and editing tools, and better tools for selecting and creating line art and text. If you are okay with paying a subscription long-term, that's great. With Nitro, the other thing would be considering the cost long-term. My advice for users looking at Nitro would be to make sure you have IT to help set it up or some contact or package that includes initial setup. So in looking at renewing, that was a factor, as to whether or not we wanted to go with that same product. But when it was time to look at upgrading, I went back through the initial emails with the initial setup, and there was quite a few emails back and forth with the staff and with Nitro trying to get it set up, and it proved to be a bit of a struggle for them. Nitro was implemented before I started working at this company. It was just a matter of finding a package that we could purchase outright rather than something subscription-based.
We looked at continuing on with it when our subscription came up and it was going to be too costly. Nitro was decided on before I started with this company. All the functions were there, but the subscription-based cost wasn't going to work for us. And we ended up letting go of Nitro because, just the cost factor. We went with Firefox because of the cost.
