So until more people own this and complain about the issues and force a bios update release, i'll have to stick with riva tuner keeping it at a fixed fan speed of 50% (which i can't hear)
And if it worked prperly out of the box, it never would reach temps that high. it's quite loud at max it just never gets there on it's own. I manually put the fan where it would have been (with gpu at 90c) had the card worked properly and trust me, you most assuredly would know that the fan was on. According to riva tuner, if the gpu were at 90, that fan would be blasting away. What little info i can find points to an issue with the vga bios not working properly. When my card was reaching temps over 90C, and the fan was not spinning at all, i checked with riva tuner, and noticed that it should have been spinning like mad at that point. What I have found is that this is not necessarily true. Overall Review: Many people are saying that the card runs hot and that the fan is tuned to run quite.
What can brown do for me? umm, not lose my package and lie to me about it? let's start there. This could be from getting it up to 860 mhz, combined with the fan not working properly out of the box (which i was unaware of at the time.) So until enough people own this card and have the same issues forcing some update from the manufacturer, i'm just going to leave overclocking alone and keep riva tuner in charge of the fan. During it's tuning process, it OC'd to a point where my card locked up and i had to system restore to a point before installing catalyst and start over. I had trouble with catalyst's OC software.
